Colorful, Playful, Modular and Minimal: Conceptual Building Design for Modern Living

MVRDV, the multi-awarded Dutch Architecture Studio with works all over the world, is not only focused in buildings, but about different kinds of architectural concepts and solutions.  With their colorful style, they have taken on monumental projects like the famous Markethall in Rotterdam, or the Mirador building in Madrid.

Along with “The Why Factory” (their own think-tank), they developed a work called “(W)ego”, a conceptual building which states the importance of flexibility in living spaces.  This colorful dwelling was presented during the last Dutch Design Week.

The different modules that conform this structure can be stacked in a similar way to “Tetris” pieces.  Thus, the structure that can be endlessly reconfigured.

Different minimal units (with different bright colours) are connected by staircases, ladders, windows and doors. Every space allows different interpretations, but shows few belongings and basic furnishing, suggesting mobility.
