The Greenhouse Buses project proposed by Emilio Alarcón aims to make use of the free spaces on buses to create small greenhouses that run through cities. In large cities full of buildings there are often few green spaces. This project aims to give visibility and importance to nature in the hustle and bustle of urban areas.
Cities are increasingly affected by rising temperatures as a direct cause of climate change. In many cities, the situation is further complicated by asphalt covering the entire surface and private vehicles driving from one place to another.
So what about the idea of having electric buses driving around the city as mobile greenhouses? Generate a contrast between the sober colours of the asphalt and the intense greens of nature. Give prominence to plants, bushes and small trees that would travel from one side to the other, feeding on the sunlight through the large glass windows of the buses and the warmth of the passengers.
Each bus would have a kind of greenhouse structure in the form of large transparent and translucent bubbles, made of materials such as glass, EFTE Teflon or polycarbonate to allow the sun's rays to pass through and bring nature to life. This life would coexist with the lives of each of the passengers who, every day, would take the electric bus to their destinations.
In addition, there would also be a ventilation system that would ensure optimal temperature and humidity for both plants and humans, making the bus a pleasant space for everyone.
We live surrounded by cars, screens, technology and little interaction with nature. It would be interesting to reverse the carbon footprint we leave and at the same time connect with our roots, leaving a footprint with our more natural side.
That's why Madrid-based artist Emilio Alarcón has sought to reduce the environmental impact with these electric buses, which would reduce the carbon footprint while reconciling us with the beauty and life of natural environments.
Here are some images created by the artist Emilio Alarcón himself with the help of Midjourney Artificial Intelligence so that you can see what the creative and sustainable idea of Greenhouse Buses would look like if it were to be implemented in reality. A nice and different way to contribute to the environment with such an everyday activity as taking public transport.
We were delighted to learn about this proposal and to know that tools are being created to care for the planet, for a better future.
At Smart Room Barcelona we are also concerned about climate change and we take all possible measures, both in the construction of the stands and in our day-to-day work in the office and facilities.
We are proud that Laboratorios Théa has received, this year 2024, the award for the most sustainable stand designed and built by our agency at the Congress of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO) at the Palacio de Congresos in Madrid.
May 2025 be full of good times together, new challenges, beautiful people, successes and above all tools to continue making this planet a better world, not only taking care of it and pampering it, but also taking care of our bonds and leaving an exemplary footprint for future generations.
The Smart Room Barcelona team wishes you happy holidays! We farewell you with a sincere hug and hope that all your wishes come true.
