Chinese architectural studio Wutopia Lab have conceived an “experiential space for kids” in the city of Qinhuangdao. It used to be a club house, but it´s now a 1000 sqm restaurant for young people.

By using diferent materials and textures (semitransparent polycarbonate, transparent plastic bubbles, or a bright coloured staircase), this multi functional space invites to play and get lost into the different ludic environments.

According to Wutopia-lab website, one of the main ideas by the creators is “to distort the realism of the place, as if time is not passing”.

Why is this important for us? Because it shows us how the different use of materials in an old space can generate new interesting atmospheres.
