“Atelier des Lumières” is a digital art center which explores the possibilities of new technologies. This entertainment center opened earlier this year in Paris. Its goal is offering monumental exhibits by means of video projections and surrounding sound. This happens by taking advantage of new technologies available to offer a new vision of greatly known artists’ work.
This attraction is located inside an old industrial space created in 1835: "la Fonderie du Chemin-Vert".
This multisensorial spectacle belongs in a group of other places located in different places of the world. The first one was "Les Carrières des Lumières". This one is located in Southern France, in the town called Les-Baux-de-Provence. It consists on a similar show, but projected on the stone walls of a majestic empty quarry.
Contents are projected in big format, on walls, floors and ceilings of an old iron-foundry space. Videos are animations made up in relation to different artists' works, such as Cezanne, Manet, Klimt, and many others.
One of the first expos will be dedicated to Gustav Klimt and to Egon Schiele. During different shows of 30 minutes or 15 minutes, visitors will be able to be virtually immersed in a light, color and sound experience.
Why is this place important for Smart Room Barcelona? Because AV technology is an element that allows us offering a new sense to contents: it gives dynamism, interactivity and multidimensionality.
